Fabulous Women Festival of Trees 2016 Announces Passport To Christmas Fundraiser (For Fire Victim Families) As Well As A Grant Opportunity for Youth & Community Non-Profits

Two terrific Southern SoCo nonprofits are joining forces this Christmas season to bring magic and sparkle to Petaluma.

The Fabulous Women of Sonoma County and The Petaluma Woman’s Club are collaborating to bring us this year’s popular Festival of Trees on December 2nd and 3rd, 2016.

Mark your calendar to stop in at the Woman’s Club, located at 518 B Street, Petaluma, between 6pm and 9pm, on each of these two special evenings celebrating Christmas, community and charity.

The theme for this year’s event will be Home for the Holidays. “It’s about giving our community an incredible holiday experience and enrolling the entire town into charity,” says Fabulous Women’s founder, Krista Gawronski. “This holiday partnership between the Fabulous Women and the Petaluma Woman’s Club has already attracted amazing support from business anchors, Bici Sport, Wells Fargo, Bergin Glass, Petaluma Valley Athletic Club, The Argus Courier, The Law Office of Sandra Acevedo and Minuteman Press and we’re on track to receive high marks for bringing a wholesome, festive, and philanthropic experience to Sonoma County.”

Thousands of people are expected to walk through the doors of The Woman’s Club for the Christmas tree auction, holiday Sweet Shoppe, raffle, Santa photos by Looking Glass Photography, succulent garden shop, and an festive lineup of entertainment, including the Pacific Empire Chorus Group, Love 2 Dance, Petaluma Pete, and local high school talent.

“The entire event is powered by volunteerism, love, and local businesses,” says Krista. Admission is free and proceeds from will be poured back into charitable nonprofits, including a community effort to help the 14 families affected by a devastating row of house fires in Petaluma.

PASSPORT TO CHRISTMAS

Attendees and community members at large will have the opportunity to make a $20 donation to help Petaluma families who suffered damage and loss of their homes from the September fire. In return, anyone who makes this donation receives 10 free raffle tickets for Festival of Trees and a passport filled with local restaurants and businesses that will honor a 15% discount off their goods and services. The duration of this campaign is December 2nd through Christmas Day.

According to Krista, President of the Fabulous Women and small business owner: “This campaign is quite circular. We are helping local families in need, we are promoting local shopping and dining, and we are celebrating the true spirit of giving.”

Passports will be sold beginning November 1st. The following local businesses will be selling the passports: The Downtown Association at the Petaluma Visitors Center, Mr. Pickles Sandwich Shop, Della Fattoria, Athletic Soles, Flower Child Consignment, The Sweet Zone, and Pongos. Passports will be available to purchase during the Festival of Trees Event.

GRANT OPPORTUNITY FOR NONPROFITS

The Fabulous Women have a structured guideline to their giving and how they award the proceeds of this event. They support three important categories, a global cause, a community nonprofit, and an organization that supports youth. The group maintains a strong connection to The Rwanda School Project which was originally developed by a small group of local educators and partial proceeds will continue to help fund this project, this year.

Remaining funds raised from Festival of Trees will be divided equally between two local nonprofits. Winners are selected through a grant process. If your charitable organization falls into the youth or community category you may submit a grant proposal for consideration. Please email the Fabulous Women by November 11th and answer the following questions:

1) What is your mission statement?

2) How do you serve our local community?

3) How will a grant from The Fabulous Women support your upcoming projects or your work in the community?
